Raleigh, NC (June 13, 2011)

Firm rallies a strong finish to benefit Mental Health Research

RALEIGH, NC (June 6, 2011)–A 12-member team from CAPTRUST, including the firm’s CEO, Fielding Miller, took part in the 7th Annual George Thanhauser Bike for Hope charity event in Raleigh on May 14, joining other cycling enthusiasts and families from around the Triangle in supporting mental health research and treatment.

Comprising the CAPTRUST’s team were Miller, John Appleby, Todd Jones, Matthew Leggett, Chris Mastrapasqua, Scott Matheson, Rick Shoff, Jason Stamm, Jon Strickland, John Martin, Craig Adams and Stephen C. Brissette – all avid cyclists with varying levels of expertise. Ten members participated in the 32-mile bike ride, while two competed in the 50-mile trek, with team member, Brissette, taking first place in the 50-mile event.

Although the team endured a few scratches, they successfully finished the race and were thrilled at the outcome. “We enjoyed participating in this fun and meaningful event on behalf of such a worthy cause,” Miller said. “Having a teammate finish first was a bonus.”

This year, approximately 150 participants took part in the George Thanhauser Bike for Hope event, helping to raise almost $10,000 for mental health research. Since its inception in 1984, Foundation for Hope, a non-profit dedicated to research and treatment of mental illness, has given over $2 million to fund local research and treatment for bipolar disorder, depression, schizophrenia, anorexia and more.
